The Franschhoek Valley is an hour's drive from the centre of Cape Town and Cape
Town International Airport. It has much to offer all its
visitors. Take a guided interpretative tour of the valley and come away feeling
that you know a whole lot more of what makes this valley so special.

It was home to elephants, San, and Khoikhoi before the
arrival of the French Huguenot farmers of 1688. Take time to explore this
history by visiting the Huguenot Monument and Memorial Museum,
graveyards, Solms Delta or taking a guided walking tour.
Franschhoek is world renowned for its hospitality and has
earned the reputation of being the gourmet capital of South Africa,
with many restaurants and wine estates winning prestigious awards and
accolades.
Days can be spent visiting a chocolate factory, art
galleries and numerous antique and other unique shops.
The Franschhoek Mountains tower above the valley and
offer majestic views, made all the more spectacular by the changes in the
seasons. For the more adventurous, take to the mountains to find peace and
tranquility in hidden valleys, gurgling mountain streams and breathtaking
views. Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve, at the top of Franschhoek
Pass, offers wonderful views as well
as an introduction to a myriad of the Cape's
fynbos varieties. Drop off and pick up from hikes can be arranged, as well as
group meals after a hot shower.
Other Franschhoek outdoor activities include horse trails, paragliding, bowls,
boule, tennis, cycling, mountain biking and trout fishing. Several golf courses
are half an hour's drive away as well as opportunities for abseiling and
canoeing.

or restaurant and summer jazz evenings.
